ADA 20th Anniversary Gala

Monday, July 26, 2010 - 7:00pm - 11:00pm

On July 26 2010, Disability Power & Pride held a Gala Celebration in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. People from all around the country came to celebrate “A Night to Remember.” It was a truly special evening saluting the disability community’s crowning achievement with nearly 750 guests.

The Gala was the capstone event for a two-week series of ADA anniversary events in Washington DC. It mirrored the Power & Pride Inaugural Ball, held at the National Press Club on January 18, 2009. Many representatives from Congress and the Administration were in attendance including Senator Tom Harkin, Congressman Steny Hoyer, Congressman James Langevin, Associate Director at the White House Office of Public Engagement & Special Assistant to the President for Disability Policy, Kareem Dale; Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Tina Tchen; Senator Lisa Brown, Director of the Office of National AIDS Policy and Senior Advisor on Disability Policy at the White House, Jeff Crowley; Director of Priority Placement at the White House Office of Presidential Personnel, Rebecca Cokley; former Congressman Steve Bartlett and former Senator Lowell Weicker.

Featured performing artists were present as well and guests enjoyed a night full of great food, company, and dancing as the disability community came together to celebrate its diversity and showcase its Power & Pride. We thank our lead sponsor, AT&T, as well as our other generous sponsors, for making the event possible.
