Power & Pride's work currently centers around four different areas, each explained below.

Cross-Community Events

Power & Pride hosts large cross-community events that focus on providing a venue for the disability community to come together and have fun. Though policy and activism are important for our community to advance, we feel it is also important to enjoy one another apart from the serious policy debates. As a result, our events have brought many new people to the community beyond the usual advocates.

In addition to cross-community events, Power & Pride hosts dialogue-based events, known as forums, in Washington, DC. Our forums present opportunities for people to learn about issues of importance to the disability community. For an affordable cost, guests will hear speakers share their insight on pertinent topics and engage in follow-up discussion.

Leadership Development

Power & Pride promotes people with disabilities for political appointments by working with the White House Presidential Personnel Office and leaders across the disability community to recommend and identify qualified candidates. Through these efforts, Power & Pride has helped secure an unprecedented amount of political appointments for the disability community across the federal government.

Identity Campaign & Merchandising

In parternership with National Industries for the Blind (NIB), Power & Pride recently developed a small line of high-quality merchandise. Our goal was to create a brand that unites the community in a positive and non-threatening way. We feel that our products, with the Power & Pride ampersand logo, provide a simple but powerful way for more people to identify as or with a person with a disability.
